Portugal - Penafiel

Metzeler world enduro riders greeted the field this weekend in Portugal with 12 podium positions, including wins in all three classes in both days racing.  It seemed that Metzeler riders were ready to pounce on the competition as the Outdoor Enduro World Championships got underway this past Saturday and Sunday near Porto in Portugal.  With this weekend’s performance from riders on Honda, KTM and Gas Gas machines, Metzeler is now leading all three classes of the championship.

Epreuve 1

For his come back to the big class, Ivan Cervantes (ESP-KTM) showed himself particularly at ease with his KTM. Being at the same time technical and aggressive, he dominated comfortably the E3 class, winning with a 28 second advantage over his teammate Samuli Aro (SF-KTM). David Knight (GB-BMW) seemed to run into difficulties with his new BMW, finishing in an unusual sixth.

Epreuve 2

In the ENDURO 3 class it was a double victory and the maximum 50 championship points for Ivan Cervantes, who seemed on fire in opening Enduro GP. Cervantes (ESP-KTM) flew through the course on his Metzeler tyres, with a 44 second lead on his first adversary. Behind the Spaniard, the positions were tight with surprise second placed finisher Christophe Nambotin (FRA-GAS), who managed to maintain a gap on the first rider non on Metzeler. Teammate on the KTM factory team and reigning E3 champion Samuli Aro can be satisfied with the results this weekend with a 2nd on Saturday and 4th on Sunday, since he is now seated 2nd in the championship alongside Guillaume.
